While I was growing up my mother worked at Pontins Holiday Camp in Blackpool.

Recently I found out that it had closed down so I had to visit one last time before it disappeared completely.

Kerstin and I were recently guests at our friend Christiana’s wedding to the very handsome Sascha.

Christiana asked if I wouldn’t mind taking some pictures of the guests and the goings-on of the day and I was happy to oblige.

I am fascinated by what Ray Oldenburg called the ‘Third Place’, the types of in-between place we all escape to. The places away from the responsibilities of our busy work and home lives. For this project I set to document these places and the people in them.

Here’s a selection of my favourite images from this project.

Of course, many thanks goes to my patient models and the establishments involved.

Mary J. Lockwood – Storyteller

John Aldred and I recently collaborated on a photo shoot with Mary J. Lockwood. Mary is a storyteller, writer, comedian and one of the driving forces behind the UK’s story slam circuit. She’s a wonderful and funny young woman who was a complete pleasure to work with. We managed to get the use of a room in the Storey for the afternoon and it was a brilliant place for a photo shoot, full of beautiful windows and peeling paint.

We had such a good time on this photo shoot and I think it shows in the final images. Here’s a selection of my favourite images from the day.

Wishbone Ash

I was deeply honoured to be invited to document a Wishbone Ash gig at Manchester Academy. I was amazed at how much work goes on behind the scenes to ensure the success of a tour; everyone from the person booking the hotels to the person who sorts out the lighting. It’s quite a production managed by a really fun group of people. Below is a selection of my favourite images of the day.

The Mapped Festival of Contemporary Arts was an art festival organised and produced by the graduating class of the 2009 MA Professional Contemporary Arts Practice at Lancaster University. Weingut Hammes

Weingut Hammes is an independent family run winemaker on the banks of the Mosel river in Germany. As well as producing a wide range of stunning wines they also offer accommodation for holiday makers to the beautiful Mosel Valley. These images are a sample of promotional material I’ve worked on for their advertising, website and tasting studio.
